What do you use for shampoo and conditioner? I have a patch of dry skin (possibly eczema) on the back of my scalp and neck. I've tried a bunch of different shampoos, creams, jojoba oil, etc. and can't get that pesky spot to clear up!
I have dandruff so I use Jason Dandruff Relief. I don't usually use conditioner because my hair has more body without it. I've read many blog posts about using apple cider vinegar as a conditioner on the ends of your hair, but I haven't tried it yet. I use Everyday Shea Butter Shampoo and Body Wash for Babies for my kids. It has very natural and gentle ingredients. I use it as a body wash for myself, but haven't tried it in my hair yet. Have you tried apple cider vinegar, honey, or coconut oil? I hope you find something that works!!
I just stumbled across your website in my search for information about which oils are good to use on my face and I could not be happier! You have so many great ideas! I cannot wait to try them all.
@ Lindsey. You should try using tea tree oil shampoo to wash your hair and rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar with the "mother " in it.. you can use Braggs but Heinz also makes one now, make sure you mix it with about 1/4 cup vinegar and 2-3 cups of water and rinse your hair after you shampoo and let sit for about 3-5 min and rinse very well. .. Only condition your ends... I used to have horrible itchy scalp and flakes and since I have done this I dont have a issue with my scalp.. I do this 2-3x a month.. As far as your patch, try coconut oil with vitamin e mixed in or some good olive oil...
Kendra.. do you have any ideas for homemade bath salts or adding oils to Epson salt for a foot scrub? I was thinking tea tree oil and Epson salt? I am new to oil and use Tea tree oil for my face for mild acne but I am interested in using oils for other things as well. I love your site :)
Hi Trisha, The following link is to a recipe for foot scrub that I love. It's brown sugar, Epsom salt, a carrier oil, and essential oils. You could use tea tree oil instead of the essential oils listed in the recipe. http://www.ourhomemadehappiness.com/2012/09/homemade-gifts-baby-wipes-face-body.html
Hi I really love your blog!:) I was wondering if you could make homemade toothpaste. I've been wanting to make some of my own.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've made one homemade toothpaste, but hated it. I'll have to try a different recipe. I'll start working on that. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteShoshanna has a good recipe for homemade toothpaste on her Bulk Herb Store website using bentonite clay.
